  • We are no longer be doing paper registration for library cards.  People should be directed to a catalog computer to apply for a card.  We may set up a laptop that people can use to fill out the registration. At this time, people will still pick up their cards downstairs, since it can become too congested upstairs. Melissa will contact IT to request a MyLink icon on the catalog computers. Things to remember:

o   There is no need to keep the sticky barcode from the card.
o   All procedures are the same; just no paper.
o   Remember to change the account from ‘online’ to ‘adult’.
o   We will not be giving them the yellow sheet about the card, since HPL has decided to paperless.
o   If staff has to insert the person’s information, remember to read the agreement to them.
  • There is now a Computer Assistance box on the statistics sheets to record stats. Please put a hash mark in it for a computer encounter. Additional questions will be marked as questions on the stat sheet.
  • All staff will be required to read the City of Houston Drug Policy: Executive Order 1-12 Controlled Substance and Alcohol Abuse: http://www.houstontx.gov/execorders/1-12.pdf . Once you’ve read it, sign the Acknowledgement sheet which will be located over the work computer in the 1st floor workroom.
  • Kay is expecting some Texas Travel Brochures in the mail. Please hold them for her if you see them.
  • Courtnie updates:
o   We now have all SRP prizes.
o   We do not yet know the cut off date for SRP prizes.
o   We have too many Whataburger tickets. You can give these out to kids under 12.
o   Camp Stream will be July 31st , August 1st and August 2nd. Alex will be coming in early and helping on the 31st; Tasha on the 1st; and Kandis on the 2nd.
o   There is a PowerPoint training for Camp Stream. Get with Courtnie in order to view it. You will get 1 hr training credit.
o   The last Drag Queen Storytime was a success. September will be the 1 year anniversary for DQS at Montrose. It’s been a success even though HPL has not promoted it on any social media.
