Montrose Meeting Notes 3/1/18

Here’s a re-cap of what we went over on Thursday’s meeting:

 

• The new DVD limit is 15.
• The Community Engagement Literacy Mobile van has its own library collection.  The van does not do holds. We probably won’t have much to do with it, however, it is good for us to be aware.
• There is a flowchart on what to do if a self-published author approaches you about doing a program at the library.  Programming will ultimately decide whether to hold the program, but if the library doesn’t already own the book, then the author should contact LMS first.
• Voting is next Tuesday. Looscan will be a polling place. Customers may need help from us to find where they need to vote.
• We discussed the incidents that had occurred during the week, so far.
• Meeting Room confusion – Customers are encouraged to book rooms in person. However, a few have sent emails to the Montrose account. Alex or Courtnie will respond appropriately to those emails. Thanks!
• Kay – March is Women’s History Month
• Tasha – Reported that the ESL volunteer cancelled the class the day before on Tuesday. Unfortunately, customers showed up to the class. This is the second class the volunteer has cancelled on short notice.
• Courtnie –
• The Drag Queen Story time for February went well. The next one is March 31^st at 1:00pm.
• Montrose will be participating in Teen Tech Week.  We will be having an Escape Room on March 8^th at 4:00pm for ages 9yr-18yr.
• Courtnie is planning a Family Storytime. More on that later.
• Montrose will be participating in the Dr. Seuss, Read Across America. More on that later.
• SRP – Courtnie is finalizing Montrose’s programs. The theme for SRP will be Block Land.
• Courtnie will be attending a meeting to learn more about Montrose’s participation in Camp Stream.
• As a reminder, please make sure the meeting room doors are locked when not in use. Also, whoever is at desk 2 when we open needs to make sure that the phone is turned on.
• There has been no progress with Hotspots. Melissa will see if Montrose can get some signage, and be listed on the HPL Website.
