Manager's Meeting 7/25/2013

The following was discussed in the manager's meeting:

Sirsi
Yesterday, we received a lot of database errors and users locked. This was because they were uploading a lot of information due to them migration.
The databases and ILL are still struggling to work in some cases. The Sirsi side of things is OK, but the vendors are trying to get their end to work. This should be solved shortly.
We had some issues with In Collections accounts during the migration. Fred has these fixed mostly.
At some point the paging list and expired holds list will be available on HPLnet.
If someone says they are not receiving the e-mails from HPL, please advise them to check their junk mail and then make that e-mail address a safe one, so future correspondence will not end up in the junk mail.
Symphony calculates bills on an ongoing basis. Such that if a customer has items that are out presently and are overdue, those assumed fines will be counted against the customer. These fines will not be billed to the customer until the items are turned in or renewed, however the account will be blocked when the assumed fines reach $10.00. We will need to renew the items and have them pay the fines. This goes for laptop checkouts as well. If assumed fines are present at all, there can be no laptops checked out on that account until the items are turned in or renewed and then the bills paid for.
Six weeks initial checkout is gone for the time being. They are looking at a fix for that in the future.
Serials is still pretty messy. Continue putting them into the Google Docs. They are trying to fix it.
Sometimes the Workflows says we have tried too many logins. This is due to the Internet possibly dropping and coming back online while we may be unaware that it is happening. Once we get locked out, we need to notify IT and they have to contact Sirsi to get that solved.

Obamacare
We are going to be trained to deal with questions concerning Obamacare sign ups for customers. Mandatory that all managers attend this training, and they will relay the information to you. We are not health experts, so answer these questions much like tax questions. Show them the resources and do not offer advice of any type. The signs up will being October 1st.

Training
Customer service training will be mandatory for all staff. This starts in August.

Computer Refresh
We will begin replacing all library computers in August. Customer computers go first.
