Here’s a re-cap of what we went over on Thursday’s meeting:
- Everyone is doing well with the Staff Training. Remember to sign the sheet as you complete each course. Also note that if you pause the ‘elective’ courses, you will lose everything. So try to finish it in one sitting.
- Staff Development Day is tomorrow at 5th Ward. It starts at 8:15am. If you want to carpool, meet at Montrose no later than 7:15am. Both Looscan and Montrose staff will meet at Montrose in the afternoon. There will be plenty of rides back to Montrose from 5th Ward. Also, we talked about ordering pizza for everyone for lunch. However, you might want to stop and get a drink on the way back to the branch.
- Doris –
- Due to a duplicate card created that had fines on it, Esther said to only look up users using the ‘Browse’ option. However, we’ve been trained to use the search option. It was agreed that if Circ wants to change the procedure, they should put it in writing in an official document.
- Please remember to use all caps when inputting user information.
- Do a shelf-check before marking claims return. Then make a note in the account.
- While at the circ desk, staff should be shelving or putting items in order on the trucks when not busy.
- Everyone should be shelving. I will be questioning why someone is browsing on a computer or looking at their phone when shelving needs to be done.
- Luis put the Christmas tree up. The stand has broken. We need a new tree.
- Please remember to put the hash marks on the stats sheets.

- One volunteer was let go for falsifying his time.
- We may have a new volunteer starting soon.
- Courtnie –
- The Winter Reading Program will be 12/8 through 1/8. Kids from 0-18 may enroll, and log their progress, on the HPL website using Beanstack. Staff is not responsible for enrolling them or logging their information. If they were in SRP, their information should already be there. Their objective is to read for 10 minutes for 10 days. The days don’t have to be sequential. The prize is 1 free book and 1 lollipop. Staff should record that the prize was awarded in Beanstack.
- Montrose will not have a Santa this year. However, Looscan will have a Santa on Thursday, 12/14 from 4:00pm – 5:00pm.
