Montrose Meeting Notes 12/28/17

Here’s a re-cap of what we went over on Thursday’s meeting:

·       Beginning January 2^nd, branches will be recording in-house use daily.  Instructions for doing this will be put on the blog. Also, this task will be added to our daily schedule.
       Counting In-House

·       At the recent managers’ meeting, John Middleton presented several HPL projects that are in the works. One of them was the possibility of getting a new building for Montrose! There are no hard dates, but it is exciting to know that this is being considered.

·       At the managers’ meeting a memo from Mayor Turner was discussed regarding Policy Reminders. The following were discussed: Executive Order 1-28, titled Executive Order Regarding Gifts; Administrative Procedure 8-1, titled Use of City Information and City Technology Resources; and Administrative Procedure 3-10, titled Outside Employment.

·       Customers should not be taking library materials into the restrooms. We recently discovered a man that had taken a newspaper into the restroom. He was gone before we could do anything about it.

·       Newspapers that are not stamped should be thrown away. Library copies should have a date stamp in the upper left hand corner of the first page of each section.

·       Please remember to use the proper greeting when answering the phones. There should be a copy of it next to each phone. If there is not, let me know.

·       The serial computer and the one with the register are working now. Alex fixed them.

·       Remember… Never turn off the computer with the label maker connected to it. This includes the one in the downstairs workroom, and the one at the upstairs service desk.

·       The broken phone at the upstairs desk has been reported.

·       Please remember… We do not give refunds for anything. If someone wants a refund for a book, these is a specific form that is completed and sent to Financial Services.

·        Courtnie –

o   There will not be a story time on January 2^nd.

o   Montrose is not renewing our movie license. Courtnie is going to come up with other ideas for programming. Forward any suggestions to her.

o   There will be a Drag Queen Story time Saturday, 12/30 at 1:00pm. We’ve decided to continue the program next year, however, the details still need to be worked out.

o   The Winter Reading Program will be through 1/8. Kids from 0-18 may enroll, and log their progress, on the HPL website using Beanstack. Staff is not responsible for enrolling them or logging their information. If they were in SRP, their information should already be there. Their objective is to read for 10 minutes for 10 days. The days don’t have to be sequential. The prize is 1 free book and 1 lollipop. Staff should record that the prize was awarded in Beanstack.
