Here’s a re-cap of what we went over on Thursday’s meeting:
· A reminder that Montrose will be open on Mondays
beginning June 26th. I’ve sent an email to Djuina regarding
Security.
· Both Meyer and Walter will be open on Mondays
beginning June 5th.
· Alex will be going back to working alternating
Saturdays.
· Do not change the customer’s location unless
they fill out a new application form.
· Please remember to remove the old date stickers
off the spines on books.
· Please remember to separate phone numbers and
emails with a comma.
· Please be sure check and verify any events
flyers you are responsible for so that information is accurate.
· Books floating to LMS should be first checked
out to MNT-FLOAT; and then added to the list document on “important links” on the
blog.
· Kay has developed displays for Pride month.
· SRP begins June 1st.
o There
is a list of prizes on the door behind Courtnie’s desk.
o The
kid’s SRP events will be on Tuedays at 3:00pm
o The
teens SRP events will be on Thursdays at 4:00pm
o People
should register and log their books themselves
o Do
not use ‘various’ as a book description.
· Someone finally picked up the left over bike
from last year’s SRP.
· Tasha attended the ILL Training for Montrose. She’ll
go over the changes at our next staff meeting.
· If you see
books that are on their side, these were shelved by volunteers. Please
check the accuracy. If it’s correct, it’s okay to put the book upright.
· Leonore has created a branch email for us. It is
mnt.lilbrary@houstontx.gov and
the password is Book$2013. She added a
signature with the branch info and also set up a forwarding rule, so that
anytime someone responds to that email account, it will be forwarded to, Melissa,
Doris, Courtnie and Alex. This email can be used to notify customers about
missing CDs, damaged books, etc., and also meeting room requests. You’ll be
able to tell if it’s a forwarded email from the official accounts because the
sender will be HPL Looscan or HPL Montrose. If a response is needed, I
would recommend not replying from your own account, but logging into the
official account and responding that way.
· Courtnie is having a dance party at the end of
July. She’ll need help with it!
· Hotspots are at the following branches: ACR,
BLU, CAR, CEN, FLO, JOH, JUN, MAN, MOO, SMI, SWX, YOU. Staff can also
check out hotspots for outreaches or personal use by emailing the IT Helpdesk
and providing your library card number. Hotspots do not have
international service.
· Citizenship toolkits - https://halan.sdp.sirsi.net/client/en_US/hou/search/detailnonmodal/ent:$002f$002fSD_ILS$002f0$002fSD_ILS:1967043/ada?qu=citizenship+toolkit
Each toolkit comes with multiple parts. The three customers MUST return
are: 1. Civics Flashcards 2. Quick Civics Lesson Guide 3. Welcome to the US
booklet in English & Spanish. There is $7 charge per missing part
(like a CD in an audiobook). The entire kit costs $21 + $10 processing
fee. Email Jessica Stanley to have missing parts replaced and notate what
is missing on the kit’s content list. Kits should be kept at the desk
rather than on the public floor.
· The next Staff Development Day will be in April
2018.
· Our intern(s) will start June 13th.
We should know who we get by June 5th. Interns work 30 hours/week.
Please let Tasha do an orientation with the intern before assigning any tasks.
· Do not send HPL Training/Leilany course
completion emails from TMS. She automatically downloads information from
TMS on a regular basis and doesn’t need those emails from us. Do
send certificates to her upon completion of a training.
· Niche Academy offers training videos that don’t
officially count towards credit, but if you take any, do list them on your
monthly report. http://training.houstonlibrary.org/niche-academy
· The end of the fiscal year is near. If you
are doing mileage for June, have your paperwork in no later than July 5th
(the earlier, the better).
·
I passed around information about: The Living Room programs HPL has been doing; the Mayor’s
priorities, specifically Complete Communities; Plan Houston; and the proposed
FY18 library budget. I will make copies for anyone who wants one.
