Searching in the Catalog
As a reminder, you can search the catalog for
books of a certain lexile rank. There are two methods for conducting this
search:
1. Use the phrase search method, by enclosing the search terms within quotation marks ("550 lexile").
2. Search the note field, by using the indicator "n:" (n:550 AND n:lexile). This method is somewhat less precise but does, in some cases, offer a wider range of results.
The only method for locating multiple lexile ranks is by stringing together multiple phrase or note searches using the "OR" search term. The equivalent grade to a given lexile score can be found by using the website: http://www.lexile.com/fab

Accelerated Reader
The ZPD reading score or level
is related to the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program from Renaissance Learning.
Currently in HISD we use Lexile
levels to approximate and monitor a student’s reading level. However there are
several schools in HISD that are strong users of AR. Each school in HISD is allowed to choose the
reading programs that they want to use, so you might see more of these requests
for books based on the ZPD range.
